Volunteer Opportunities:
Volunteers come from all walks of life, including teachers, athletes, businesswomen, businessmen, fathers and mothers -all of whom possess a great enthusiasm for helping to prepare girls for a healthy and happy adolescence and adulthood. Volunteer opportunities are available for coaches, assistant coaches, running buddies and assistants at our 5K race. Next Steps

- Coach – GOTR of Central Maryland relies on volunteers to help us coach our programs. Coaching is a big commitment – besides being role models of self-esteem and healthy living, coaches must be available after-school hours, and need to be trained to deliver the GOTR lesson plans. Coaches work directly with the 3rd-5th grade or 6th-8th grade girls – teaching them healthy habits and training them for the big 5K race! * Junior Coaches – High School students, 16-18 years of age can assist with the program. Follow the same registration and training process.
- Site Coordinator – The site coordinator is the contact person who coordinates with GOTR of Central Maryland and is responsible for program space logistics, marketing the program to the site’s community and communicating with participants’ parents. This person can be a site employee or a parent.
- Running Buddy – Running buddies are those volunteers who cannot commit to coaching a full 10-week season, but who are interested in supporting the program by running with and encouraging the girls on race day!
- Join a Committee
- Marketing/Communications Committee – The marketing committee meets once a month by conference call or in person to develop marketing collateral, media opportunities and marketing events.
- Outreach Team – The outreach team is an on-the-go group of volunteers who participate in outreach activities that raise awareness of our organization and programs. Activities include setting up info booths at race expos, staffing open houses and info sessions and representing GOTR of Central Maryland at local community events. Girls on the Run of Central Maryland provides all required training and materials. Look for our calendar of events and outreach opportunities coming soon!
- Girls on the Run 5K Event Committee – If you are interested in being on the committee that does all the prep work leading up to race day, this is the spot for you. This committee works on two GOTR races one that is held at the beginning of December and one in May.
- Sole Mates Committee – Sole Mates is the charity running leg of GOTR, in which individuals or teams of athletes pursue goals, such as running a marathon or a 10K, to raise money for GOTR of Central Maryland. This committee is charged with planning, staffing and executing a variety of activities throughout the year related to Team Tiara.
Volunteers for all committees must be willing and able to attend periodic committee meetings in the evenings and potentially on weekends.
